Eric L Johnson, PhD
Founder & Scholar-in-Residence
Eric founded CPI ten years ago while working full-time in higher education. Since his retirement from Houston Christian University in May 2024, Eric has been working to establish the Christian Psychology Institute as a national hub for training and certification in Christ-Centered Therapy.
Eric has authored and edited numerous monographs under academic imprints. He is a popular presenter, who is often called to speak on the intersection of theology and psychology. He has done pastoral counseling for over 25 years. He’s married to Rebekah, and has two children and three grandchildren, all of whom he treasures. His interests include hiking and bike riding.

Jonathan P Badgett, PhD, MDiv

Jonathan has served as the CEO of CPI since the spring of 2024. He casts vision, leads the team, manages CPI partnerships, and collaborates with Eric on CPI Publications.
Before coming to CPI, Jonathan served in full-time pastoral ministry for 20 years, including 5 years as a lead pastor. He also has over 15 years of pastoral counseling experience. His wife, Alison, is a singer and educator. Their four kids range in ages from 12 to 20. When he’s not working, he’s usually with some or all of them.

Bethel Bumanglag-Webb, MABC, EdD
Communications & Donor Relations
Bethel has served in her current role as Director of Communications & Donor Relations since spring 2024. She manages online and social media content and coordinates CPI communications with participating scholars and CPI’s many generous donors.
Originally from Manila, Philippines, Bethel moved to the U.S. to pursue degrees in counseling and education. Her passion is caring for ministry leaders serving in churches and their families. She and her husband, Kevin, enjoy TV together, bookstores, pastry shops, and their Nintendo Switch.

Sarah Vincent
Administrative Manager
Sarah came on as CPI’s Administrative Manager in the spring of 2024. After retiring as a business analyst for UPS, Sarah now takes care of administrative needs for CPI as well as helping the team track and complete tasks..
A recent convert to Catholicism, Sarah devoutly pursues her relationship with the Lord. She and her husband, Chris, have been married for 38 years. They have one daughter and two grandchildren.
